In a statement, Vorderman, 62, said: “The BBC recently introduced new social media guidelines, which I respect.
“However, even though my show is lighthearted and has no political content, it was explained to me that since it is a weekly show in my name, the new guidelines would apply to all content I post throughout the year.
“Since those non-negotiable changes were made to my radio contract, I have finally discovered that I am not prepared to lose my voice on social media, change who I am, or lose the ability to express the strong beliefs I have about political unrest in the that this country is in.”
