Mackie was the costume designer for the Carol Burnett Show and created more than 16,000 outfits during its 11 years of operation, according to MeTV.com.

“I think his genius lies not only in making things pretty, but in making things fun,” Burnett said of Bob in a 1975 interview with The Daily Times.

Her new documentary features highlights from her illustrious career, including her collaborations with stars like Cher.

“I can’t even count the contributions he’s made,” Burnett said elsewhere in the interview.

She added: ‘There have been many occasions where he saved me in a sketch. I have trouble with a character all week and then he comes up with some costume that makes him fit.’

According to MeTV, Mackie produced between 65 and 70 costumes each week for the sketch show, in addition to between 10 and 20 pieces for his other A-list clients.

He has worked with Diana Ross, Lucille Ball, Jane Fonda and many more.
