Jacob Weitering has been praised by members of a community after he came to the aid of an elderly woman.
According 7newsIt is understood that the lady suffered a fall, and Carlton’s vice-captain, who was in his car at the time, jumped into action to help the lady.
It is understood he suffered “significant laceration injuries” after falling on his walker.
The defender, who recently married his partner Isabel Kahan in a surprise ceremony in November, is believed to have taken the lady to Alfred Hospital.
The woman’s grandson said: “I’m not a fan of Carlton, but I am a fan of Jacob Weitering.”

Weitering saw the woman fall onto her walker before helping her and taking her to the hospital.
Turns out Jacob was there in his car. He came out and helped her, picking her up and carrying her and her walker to his car and took her to Alfred Hospital.
‘My grandmother said he was very calm and friendly.
‘Jacob, you are an absolute legend who went above and beyond to help a stranger in need. My family is grateful.’
The 27-year-old enjoyed an excellent season with Carlton, enjoying above-average career numbers in the 22 games he played for the Blues.
Weitering was also awarded his first all-Australian jacket at the end of the season and Carlton also secured him a new six-year contract, which will see him remain at the club until the end of 2031.
Seven News presenter Jacqui Felgate also provided a message from a bystander who had been present as the incident unfolded.
“Hi Jacqui, a quick shout out to some amazing people in our local Bayside community this morning,” the message reads.
‘I was proud to see everyone’s quick action and attention when an elderly man had a medical episode while we were enjoying our breakfast at the local cafe.

Weitering was hailed on social media as a “great role model for young fans.”
‘Everyone pulled together to make sure he was okay, offering him first aid and care.
‘A young nurse responded immediately, as did a lovely lady, who sat and stayed with him until the ambulance arrived.
‘The four young Hawthorn footballers who were sitting next to him called the ambulance, waited with the man and did not leave the scene until he was stable and they left for the hospital.
“As a mother of two teenage children and a teacher in our community, I was proud to see this kindness and care provided by everyone.”
One person took to social media to praise Weitering, writing: “Well done Weiters, you are a great role model for all the young AFL fans.”
