Former Argentina international Carlos Tevez has been admitted to hospital after suffering chest pains.
The 40-year-old, one of 14 footballers who played for both Manchester United and Manchester City, spent the night in a clinic in the exclusive Buenos Aires neighborhood of San Isidro after seeking medical help.
He was due to undergo further tests today at another nearby hospital.
The club managed by the retired forward, Independiente in the Argentine top flight, confirmed his admission to hospital overnight and said the initial results had been “satisfactory”.
Local reports have linked the problems to stress. Tevez has not yet made any official comment.
Independente said in a late-night statement on
‘They carried out the corresponding tests and they were satisfactory.

Tevez currently manages the Argentine team Independiente who issued the previous statement.

“Today it will continue with a series of pre-scheduled tests as part of a general check-up.”
He added in a subsequent message: ‘Carlos Tévez will be hospitalized as a precaution until the corresponding tests are carried out.’
It was not immediately clear whether he would be able to attend a club training session scheduled for today.
The hospital where further tests will be carried out has been called Finochietto Hospital of Buenos Aires.
Tevez is known to suffer from high blood pressure and undergoes regular medical check-ups.
He sparked speculation about his future as Independiente coach after calling off a press conference following the club’s elimination from a cup competition earlier this month.
Last year he was rushed to hospital after a domestic accident.
Wayne Rooney revealed in February that Tevez was the footballer he most enjoyed playing with during his career.
He is one of the 14 footballers who played for both Manchester United and Manchester City.
The striker signed for Manchester City in 2009 and won the title in the 2011-12 season.
Tevez suffers from high blood pressure and undergoes regular medical check-ups.
The pair played together between 2007 and 2009 before the latter signed for United’s rivals Manchester City.
United won the Premier League title in Tevez’s two seasons with the club and also lifted the Champions League in 2008 and the League Cup in 2009.
