Zverev, meanwhile, records an emphatic five-set victory over Jannik Sinner, where he found his form despite being subjected to racist language from a spectator. The German star also has a 3-2 head-to-head lead, although he will be the underdog against Alcarez tonight.
The winner of the match between Alcarez and Zverev will meet the Russian Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals of the US Open on Friday. Medvedev defeated compatriot Andrey Rublev in straight sets in Wednesday’s other quarterfinal.
