Carey Mulligan is picked up and carried out of the Oscars by husband Marcus Mumford after losing Best Actress award to Emma Stone

Carey Mulligan was led away by her husband Marcus Mumford after the 2024 Oscars.

The maestro star, 38, was picked up and carried down a long corridor in the arms of her singer-songwriter husband, 37, to the tunes of I’m Just Ken.

The day after attending the annual awards show in Hollywood, the Mumford & Sons frontman shared a TikTok video of him carrying the beaming beauty down the aisle.

The Oscar nominee – who picked up a nod in the Best Actress category for her performance in Maestro – was seen smiling and giggling despite losing the award to Poor Things star Emma Stone.

For the 96th Academy Awards, Mulligan wore a strapless mermaid-style gown with a frayed hem layered over voluminous tulle.

In an interview with Vogueexplained Mulligan that her carefully chosen dress was a tribute to her character in her Oscar-nominated film Maestro.

She added that the black and white Balenciaga dress, which she wore with opera gloves and Boucheron jewelry, was ‘my favorite dress I’ve ever worn’.

This year’s Oscars was different compared to the 2021 ceremony – the last Oscars red carpet she walked – with pandemic restrictions only allowing her to bring Mumford to the event. She was nominated that year for Best Actress for her role in Promising Young Woman.

‘(He) was in charge of everything: he had to see that the dress was neatly laid; he texted my hair and makeup team. He was incredibly stressed,’ she told Vogue.

This year, Mulligan was nominated in the Best Actress category alongside Annette Bening (Nyad), Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon), Sandra Huller (Anatomy of a Fall) and winner Emma Stone (Poor Things).

To celebrate Mulligan’s achievement, Mumford also shared an Instagram post in which he gave her a kiss on the cheek.

He also shared photos of his partner of more than a decade getting ready and waiting in a van before the Oscars red carpet.

In his caption, he sweetly gushed: ‘I’m proud of my wife.’

The longtime couple have been married for almost 12 years when they tied the knot in April 2012.

They reportedly met at a Christian youth camp as pre-teens and stayed in touch as pen pals before reconnecting as adults and dating.

The cute couple recently welcomed their third child together.

They welcomed their first child, daughter Evelyn Grace, now seven, in 2015. Their son Wilfred, five, was born two years later.

In November 2023, she confirmed that the proud parents had welcomed their third child, a daughter whose name has yet to be revealed.
