Cara continued: “I’ve always thought that work has to be done when times are bad, but really, work has to be done when times are good.”

The model explained that she had been lying to herself about her health and it wasn’t until she saw herself in the photographs that she realized she needed help.
I had not slept. It wasn’t right,’ she explained. “It’s heartbreaking because I thought I was having fun, but at some point it was like, well, I don’t look good.”
“You know, sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way those photos were something to be thankful for.”
Through her work in therapy, Cara realized that she needed to stop chasing the idea of a “quick fix” for healing and committed to following the 12-step program.
She explained: “Before, I was always interested in the quick fix of healing, going on a week-long retreat or a trauma course, for example, and that helped for a minute, but it never got to the heart of the matter.” the deepest things.
“This time I realized that the 12-step treatment was for the best, and it was about not being ashamed of it. The community made a huge difference. The opposite of addiction is connection, and I really found it in 12 steps.’
It comes after Cara revealed that she will “take some time to heal” and enjoy the next chapter of her life after “things just clicked” with her 30th birthday.
Now that 2023 is in full swing, Cara says she’s looking to the future with a fresher perspective and looking to be “kinder” to herself after doing “so much for other people’s approval and love.”
