A pair of car thieves in Milwaukee vandalized a vehicle in the middle of a television interview about a local shooting before the driver ran away, leaving his injured friend behind.

The hit-and-run accident was caught on camera around 7 p.m. Sunday by the ATM4 Television crew interviewing residents about the shooting deaths of 15-year-old Monroe Weso and Alejandro Sanchez.

A gray sedan crashed into a parked minivan, causing significant damage and debris flying everywhere.

The driver of the stolen vehicle ran away while the 16-year-old passenger was injured and was treated by a woman who witnessed the accident.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, while the driver escaped after stealing a second car and police are still searching for him. A 57-year-old man was in the minivan at the time of the accident and was also treated for his injuries.

The television crew was finishing an interview about a fatal shooting when the gray sedan sped past and crashed into the parked minivan.

The images show the driver getting out and fleeing while his injured friend is left injured on the ground.

Two women then came to help the injured passenger and pulled him from the wreckage of the car.

He was then arrested by the Milwaukee Police Department and treated at the hospital for his injuries.

But the driver is still at large and authorities say he got away in a newly stolen car.

Gray McEachern, who witnessed the accident, said: “You could see the first boy, the driver, get out and run.” He had never seen anything like this before.

‘That car could have killed someone. He ran onto the grass and there were children on the grass.’

Mayor Cavalier Johnson reacted to the horrific accident, saying: ‘The passenger in that video you just showed me, he couldn’t even get up, he couldn’t even move.

“He tried to get out of the car and collapsed. You don’t want it to be your child or a child you care about. Let’s have these conversations and put an end to this.”

Police are still searching for the driver of the vehicle and have asked anyone with information to get in touch.

It comes after teenagers Monroe Weso and Alejandro Sánchez were shot and killed in Milwaukee on May 19.

Police arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with their deaths and are searching for two other suspects.

The families of the victims have created GoFundMe pages to help raise funds for funeral expenses.
