In the midst of the fight, rioters were seen pulling on Hodges’s face mask, pushing him, and punching him in the face.
The officer, with a haunted expression on his face, became desperate to “Help!” Called. as the blood trickled from his face.
In a video interview published by NBC4 On Tuesday, Hodges said he still had a “headache that wouldn’t stop,” but confirmed that he was resting and “looking forward to getting out again.”

At a press conference last week, Robert Contee, head of the Metropolitan Police Department, confirmed the officer had been injured, but said his conditions were not life-threatening.
“He’s been gone for a while,” Ramsey said CNN. “The officer is clearly in a lot of pain.”
Hodges’ identity was later revealed in a tweet on Monday that responded to a heartwarming letter written to him by 10-year-old girl Emma Jablonski from Montana.
The letter was first shared on Twitter by Emma’s mother, Johnna Jablonski, who was later reposted by DCPD.
‘Dear cop, I am Emma and I am 10 years old. I hope you heal from being crushed. I feel bad for you, ”the letter begins. ‘Those people really hurt you. I hope you and your family are nice and healthy.
“When I saw the video on CNN about people smashing you with a door, I almost cried,” the young girl adds, before concluding, “Get well. – Emma ‘.
The Metropolitan Police Department retweeted Jablonski’s image of the note late Monday evening, thanking Emma for her “kind words.”
“I just wanted to let you know that Officer Hodges is recovering and doing well,” police wrote. ‘Good [message] you an address to send it to! ‘
In a video call published Tuesday, Hodges (left) said he was still experiencing a “ headache that wouldn’t stop, ” but was “ looking forward to getting out again ” and getting back to work.

NBC Washington she later set up a Zoom conversation between Emma and Agent Hodges, with the pair finally meeting digitally on Tuesday.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much,” Hodges said during the exchange. “I’m … kind of confused, but I’m looking forward to going out again.”
The pair reportedly exchanged words, with Hodges telling Emma that he “ has a headache that won’t stop, ” but is “ doing everything right, ” the station said.
Johnna Jablonski described later Fox 5 how upset Emma was when the images of Hodges first appeared on the news.
As she watched it, she began to say, ‘What’s going on? What are they doing with that man? Why are they doing this? “And she started to cry,” the mother recalled.
In an effort to comfort her daughter, Jablonski said she had come up with several ideas for Emma on how to show the officer that she was taking care of him, before settling for a homemade card.
“So she took her paper, her crayons and sat down on the table and just wrote whatever was on her heart,” she added.
Following the footage that went viral last week, former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey attributed the exploits of Hodges and his colleagues.

Following the footage that went viral last week, former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey attributed the exploits of Hodges and his colleagues.
He said the Metropolitan Police officers depicted were not even assigned to protect the door seen in the video, saying, ‘That particular platoon came after the riot started.
‘They have done a great job. [The rioters] never went through that door. ‘
In all, Subway Police Chief Contee said 56 officers were injured in the siege, and a Capitol agent, Brian Sicknick, died.
Sicknick, 42, was hit in the head with a fire extinguisher in a fight, two law enforcement officials said. A suspect is being sought in connection with his death.
Dozens of people have since been arrested for storming into the Capitol. Hundreds of others are being hunted down by authorities but have yet to be found, including 25 people under investigation for terrorism charges.
Among the group that besieged the legislature were white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and QAnon conspiracy theorists, hailing from far-flung states like Arizona and Oregon, while photos of the riot showed people wearing clothes with a range of anti-Semitic messages.
Four protesters also died, including USAF veteran Ashli Babbitt, who was shot when she attempted to climb through a shattered window of a barricaded door near the room. Three other protesters died from “ medical emergencies, ” officials have confirmed.
