A fisherman’s body is believed to have been found at a remote fishing spot after days of desperate attempts to find the missing man.
Police and State Emergency Service personnel are attempting to recover the body from an “extremely difficult position within a rock formation” off the coast of Cape Arid, east of Esperance in Western Australia.
The 36-year-old man slipped off rocks while fishing near the mouth of the River Thomas with a family member about 2pm on Saturday, sparking a major search effort.
Boats, jet skis and planes scoured the water and shoreline Sunday before being suspended “pending new information.”
WA Police confirmed the fisherman’s family has been notified.
The national park, mostly accessible by 4×4 vehicle, is packed with camping areas and even more fishing spots along the long coastline.
