The devastated mother of a nine-week-old baby who died suddenly in mysterious circumstances has written a heartbreaking tribute to her son as new details of the tragedy emerge.

Kiarnie Rodgers, 20, shared a heartbreaking photo of a memorial set up at her home to honor her son and a poem dedicated to him as she prepares to bury her little boy.

Baby River was found dead at a property on Larbonya Crescent in Capalaba, south-east of Brisbane, on Sunday 11 August.

It is known that emergency services had attended the same address in the past and that River had previously been treated in hospital for skull fractures.

Queensland Police have launched an investigation and are understood to be treating the “sudden death” as suspicious.

River’s maternal grandfather Cameron Faulkner has now spoken out to slam trolls who had cast judgment on his grandson’s death.

He said his grandson was with his father at the time of the tragedy and had previously suffered a skull fracture after his older brother pulled him from his father’s arms.

“My daughter is a great mother and it hurts me to see people who don’t know the full story having fun writing things they know nothing about,” she said in a post on social media following the tragedy.

“My grandson was not abused, he was very loved. My daughter was a loving and caring mother who adored her children.”

On Sunday, River’s mother He described his son as an angel and promised to love him forever and make sure his older brother always remembered him.

“We will never forget you, we think of you every day, the love we hold in our hearts never fades,” the poem reads.

‘We move on without you, life is not the same, always take care of us, until we meet again.’

Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting any member of River’s family was involved in his death.

A makeshift memorial has been set up for River as his family gathers to raise funds for his funeral.

Mr. Faulkner has now launched a GoFundMe with a goal of $9,000 to help her daughter give River a “beautiful ceremony that he deserves.”

“River was a wonderful son/great-grandson/great-great-grandson/grandson/brother/nephew/cousin,” Faulkner wrote.

‘We all loved him very much and there wasn’t a day that went by when he didn’t bring warmth to our hearts with his beautiful smile and cheerful nature.

‘All money donated will go towards this ceremony/funeral and any money left will go towards helping my daughter raise her other one-year-old son during this tragedy.’

On Monday, Queensland Police told Daily Mail Australia that their investigation into the tragedy is still ongoing.

“Police are investigating the sudden death of an infant,” a Queensland Police spokesman said.

‘Investigations into the circumstances of the child’s death are ongoing.’
