THE OFFICIAL CANNESERIES has revealed its first batch of TV festival competitions for 2018, showcasing a wide range of 10 ambitious and highly anticipated new series, including Sandra Oh’s “Killing Eve”, Omri Givon’s “When Heroes Fly” and “Here on Earth”. – Created by Gael García Bernal with Michael C. Most notable is the digital CANNESERIES nominee, the viral sci-fi thriller “ATROPA” directed by Eli Sasich.

“ATROPA” is about a troubled off-world officer, portrayed by actor Anthony Bonaventura, who is running from his past, and finds himself trapped right in when he boards the mysterious spaceship ATROPA.
A love letter to the grungy sci-fi films of the ’70s and ’80s, the seven-episode ATROPA digital series features a twisting sci-fi plot, dazzling visual effects and legendary genre actor Michael Ironside, who starred in “Total Recall” and “The Best”.
The cast includes Jenny Pollitt, Chris Foss, David M. Edelstein, and Ben Klewer.

What began as a passion project many moons ago by Eli Sasich, who co-wrote the series with Clayton Tolbert, began the journey as a short film to feature screenplay, ATROPA has gone on to become a viral success.
Produced by Chris Brian and Lauren Stuyfenvolt-Allen, ATROPA has been adapted into a seven-episode digital series that can be streamed online at Studio+.

The series pays homage to every sci-fi movie you can think of with hints of Ridley Scott’s “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” and the end result produces a cinematic spectacle unique to the genre with breathtaking special effects.
The collection was designed by production designer Alec Contestabile and Wardrobe fashion designer Dagmarette Yen.

Atropa will be available for the first time worldwide starting March 9 on Studio+, including in the US, where the service has just launched and is part of Studio 71 Short Format String Catalog.
