Negotiations between the two hunters will continue and if the fight were to be successful, Alvarez would fall back to super middleweight after his intensive two weight classes to defeat Sergey Kovalev.

The win saw the 29-year-old become a four-weight champion, but he quickly left the light-heavyweight title to unite the super-middleweight division.

Saunders’ final fight came on the undercard of KSI’s rematch with Logan Paul at the Staples Center in November.

The 30-year-old Brit managed to beat Marceloa Esteban Coceres in the penultimate round to grab the win.

Promoter Eddie Hearn, who represents Saunders, wants his husband to pit against Alvarez, who has a mega-10 combat agreement with streaming site DAZN.

Alvarez regularly fights at the Cinco De Mayo party weekend, with Daniel Jacobs his most recent victim, with the Mexican beating him on points last year.

Saunders is currently undefeated after 29 fights and has once successfully defended his belt.
