How the f *** I’m still going, I don’t know: Bake Off winner Candice Brown says she had the hardest year of her life after divorce from marriage

Candice Brown has spoken out about the ‘worst year of her life’ following her divorce from husband Liam Macaulay.

The 36-year-old winner of Bake Off said frankly that she doesn’t know ‘how things are going’ while speaking about her mental health issues in a new interview.

It was revealed that Candice and her arborist ex Liam had decided to split up last July after less than two years of marriage.

Candice has now spoken for the first time about how she has fared for the past year, as she told The Burn Chef Journal podcast:

‘I had a very difficult year last year – the hardest of my life. How the f *** I’m still going I don’t know. But it was just a lot to take in, a lot to deal with. ‘

Candice, who runs her Green Man pub in Eversholt, said, “Mental health is something I’ve always struggled with.

“I was also diagnosed with ADHD, hence the disorder and forgetfulness.”

She revealed: ‘On the days when we were closed and towards the end of the year, I said,’ I don’t know if I can do this alone if the lockdown happens again.

‘I just can not. I have to be on the road all the time and that silence and darkness on top of a brain that can be pretty dark anyway was a lot. ‘

In August, Candice hinted at her ‘hopelessness’ after she liked a post from artist and author Charles Mackesy, encouraging ‘holding on’ when ‘your mind is playing tricks on you’.

The message read, “Sometimes your mind gets in your way. It can tell you that you are no good, that it is all hopeless. But remember this; you are loved and important and you bring things into this world that no one else can. So wait a minute. ‘

That same day, allegations emerged that Candice and her boyfriend had secretly split up earlier this year.

According to the report, Liam left the pub in Milton Keynes – where the couple previously lived together, and back to Ampthill, Bedfordshire.

According to The mirror, Candice’s rep said at the time, “I can confirm that Candice and Liam broke up earlier this year.”

The famous baker first met Liam in the bar where he worked while in college, in 2012.

After five years of dating, the couple announced their engagement in October 2017, just over a year after first appearing on Bake Off.

Candice exchanged a marriage with her long-term love in September 2018 at Château de Varennes in Burgundy, France.
