Cancer-stricken King Charles smiles as Queen Camilla waves friendly as they are seen together driving to Sunday service at Crathie Kirk.

Cancer-stricken King Charles smiled this morning as Queen Camilla waved friendly to well-wishers as they headed to the Sunday service at Crathie Kirk.

The couple had arrived at the late queen’s beloved Balmoral estate in Aberdeenshire on Thursday to relax and celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary.

The King’s arrival in Scotland marked his first visit to the country since revealing his cancer diagnosis in February, sending shock waves around the world.

Charles has largely stepped back from his public duties since revealing his illness; However, he has continued to read his daily red boxes and have his weekly audience with the Prime Minister.

Providing a much-needed boost to the British public, who are still recovering from the Princess of Wales’s cancer diagnosis last month, the King has been seen everywhere.

He made an appearance alongside other royals at the Easter Sunday service at Sandringham, shaking hands and chatting with royal fans who had lined the road nearby.

After arriving at Aberdeen Airport from RAF Northolt, north-west London, on Thursday evening, Charles and Camilla traveled to Birkenhall.

Birkenhall was the home of the late Queen Mother on the Balmoral Estate and later became the possession of the King.

It is seven miles from the castle and is where the King and Queen spent their honeymoon after marrying on April 11, 2005.

The monarch, like his daughter-in-law Kate, has not revealed what type of cancer he is fighting.

It is unclear whether during his visit to the Scottish Highlands he completed his care or is convalescing between treatments.
