A young mother has been charged after allegedly trying to run over her ex-partner twice in front of their children in broad daylight.
Police say the 30-year-old woman and her two children encountered the man near the Dickson Aquatic Centre in Canberra at around 12pm on Monday.
The couple had a conversation on the street before the woman allegedly got into her car and drove at her ex-partner.
After narrowly avoiding him, the woman allegedly reversed and drove at him a second time, hitting him in the hand and ribs.
She allegedly fled the scene with her children before emergency services arrived.
Police responded to the scene and conducted interviews with the injured man and other witnesses.
Officers then responded to a home on O’Connor in the city’s north side where the woman was arrested.
He was charged with aggravated assault resulting in bodily harm, aggravated property damage and traffic violations.

He is due to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court later on Tuesday.
ACT Police urge anyone experiencing family violence to call police.
