Canadian TV star lets loose on Raygun and says what Australian presenters wouldn’t dare say

Andria Bain said she was surprised by the routine.

Canadian TV presenters have criticised Australian breakdancer Rachael Gunn, suggesting she take up teaching at university.

Gunn, 36, better known as Raygun, lost all three of his round-robin battles at the Games by a combined score of 54-0.

The controversial performance included kangaroo hops, slithering like a snake and even using the iconic Australian “sprinkler” move.

The dance has sparked heated debate as critics question how she qualified to perform, and even became a topic of discussion on Canadian television show ‘The Social’.

Presenter Andria Bain said Raygun’s routine had shocked her family.

“We were like, ‘What? Is he babysitting? Is that the can opener? What’s going on here?'” she said of her family’s reactions.

‘I think the biggest problem here is that we looked at these athletes and marveled, look how big they are, look how strong they are.

“We saw all kinds of bodies, we saw incredible physical feats and then this woman came along and made us feel like we were all Olympic athletes, right? Because we can all just throw ourselves on the floor and do weird things and pretend to yawn.”

Comedian Arthur Simeon was not very impressed

Comedian Arthur Simeon (pictured right) said Raygun, who is a university researcher specialising in the “cultural politics of breakdancing”, should stick to her day job.

The 36-year-old breakdancer (pictured performing at the Olympics) was a hot topic of conversation on Canadian daytime television talk show The Social this week.

Comedian Arthur Simeon said Raygun, who is a research fellow at Macquarie University specialising in the “cultural politics of breakdancing”, should stick to her day job.

“If she was a 17-year-old still trying to figure out her life, this woman is 36 years old. At some point, your friends have to come up to you and say, ‘Don’t do this,'” she said.

“She’s a university professor,” another presenter said.

“What does he teach? It better not be break dancing,” Bain replied.

“It’s break dancing,” Simeon replied.

“Which brings a whole new meaning for those who cannot teach.”

It was revealed on Wednesday that Raygun will remain in Europe on holiday with her husband and coach while her fellow Olympians landed in Australia.

Raygun won her category at the 2023 Oceania Breaking Championships last September, which saw her qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Australian Olympic chief Anna Meares defended Raygun, saying she had captured the Australian spirit of “going for it”.
