A Canadian father and three of his children were killed in an apparent murder-suicide over the weekend.
Durham Regional Police said gunman, 48-year-old Mitchell Lapa, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, “ entered the house unsolicited in Oshawa on Friday morning and launched the shooting, killing four members of the same family.
Father Chris Traynor, 50, his children Bradley, 20; Adelaide, 15; and Joseph, 11 were shot and killed, according to CBC.
A woman identified by friends as Chris’ wife Loretta Traynor, 50, was injured in the shooting and is recovering in hospital.
Lapa died on the spot from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Homicide Department is still investigating the motive behind the shooting.
The Toronto sun reports that Lapa is a brother of Loretta and that the car is registered on the spot.

A family friend said Loretta’s father passed away last year and the loss has hit her family badly. She has two older siblings, Christopher Lapa and Mitchell.
Their father, Matthew, died last year and his wife, Marilyn, had died years before. Even growing up, Mitchell was a few years younger than me – always in and out of trouble, ” said a friend who remained anonymous.
And that was from the point of view of a teenager who could have seen that all along. I’m not surprised what I hear… He was mentally unstable, ”the friend added.
Police said Friday night that Lapa was a ‘one assailant’ who entered the house as an ‘uninvited person’ and that he owned the vehicle that was towed off the scene.
“Lapa was the only shooter in this incident and he died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” police said in a statement Friday. They said that Lapa was “a relative” of the family.
Police announced on Sunday that detectives want to speak to everyone who knew Lapa to understand the motive. Forensic officers took pictures of the front porch

The friend claimed Mitchell killed the family and injured her only to make her suffer.
“In that winegrowing community, they say Mitchell killed Loretta’s entire family and only injured her enough that she would have to live without the rest of her family,” she said.
“I had heard that when the father died, then something deteriorated,” added the friend.
The friend says that Loretta and Chris had four children and that the oldest was in college at the time of the shooting.

Chris Traynor was a respected teacher at Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School in Oshawa.
He was a very impressive teacher to many students and inspired many children to keep going to class despite the desire to quit. He was the type of teacher you wanted to pass. He always shared the opportunity to learn our persistence, ‘said former student Noella Gilkes, 20, who was a student of Traynor in 2016 and 2017.
“A tragedy like this is always bad, especially in your hometown,” said Jake Walker, another Traynor alumnus.
But when the victims were one of the few teachers who had an influence on yourself, along with three of his children, it’s a harder pill to swallow. I’m out of words right now. RIP Mr. Traynor and anyone who died way too early, ”Walker added via Twitter.
Loretta was also a teacher at St. Theresa Catholic School.
Locals have also left condolences at Sir Albert Love Catholic School, where Joseph Traynor attended.
Bradley was a college student and Adelaide was just starting high school.
A GoFundMe page to help the Traynor family move forward has raised more than $ 116,000, surpassing the $ 5,000 goal.
