Canada had to overcome Peru with 10 men and an assistant referee who collapsed in the first half of Tuesday’s game in Kansas City to win for the first time in the Copa América.

Jonathan David scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half (76′).

Guatemalan assistant referee Humberto Panjoj had to be stretchered off the field during first-half stoppage time at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City after Canadian goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau urgently asked paramedics to come to the referee’s aid.
