A top cosmetic surgeon has sparked rumors that pop megastar Taylor Swift has gone under the knife to subtly change the shape of her eyes.
Dr. Jonny Betteridge, a London-based cosmetic doctor, shared two images of the singer, before and after the supposed transformation, with his 34,000 Instagram followers.
He suggests Swift’s subtle change is an example of the growing popularity of blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery.
“This is to help cover up the eyes and bags under the eyes,” Dr. Betteridge says in the video, before going on to highlight other popular cosmetic surgery trends of the moment.
The cosmetic procedure, which costs around £6,000, aims to remove excess skin or fat from the upper or lower eyelids, or both.
In older patients, it is used to treat signs of aging, such as sagging skin around the eyes and heavy “bags.”
Some younger women opt for the procedure to make their eyes appear wider and less droopy.
Dr Betteridge is not the only expert to suggest that the star, who turns 35 this week, has undergone blepharoplasty, however subtle.
London-based cosmetic doctor Dr Jonny Betteridge has predicted that 2025 will see a “bleph boom”, also known as eyelid surgery. He suggested that Taylor Swift had undergone the surgery.
facial plastic surgeon @drspiegelwho resides in Boston in the US, has also highlighted the curious change in Swift’s face.
She told her 37,000 TikTok followers: ‘Now there’s a different eyelid, whereas before her eyelid was touching her eyelashes. This is a sign of blepharoplasty.’
“The procedure takes less than an hour and uses stitches that dissolve and disappear within a few days or a week,” he added.
In another video, cosmetics expert. @carlytheinjector You suspect an eye procedure, but are not convinced that you have had blepharoplasty.
She told her 23,900 followers on TikTok: “I think they did eyelid crease pinning, which is where they go in and pin the skin back, rather than cutting it and removing it.” At that age I probably didn’t have much excess skin.
However, Dr Nigel Mercer, who specializes in facial reconstruction surgery, believes his facial changes could be the result of normal ageing.
Referring to the before and after images in Dr Betteridge’s Instagram video, he said: “It’s not really fair to compare a child’s face to a young woman’s.”
“In the first image, she is in her late teens or early 20s, and her facial structure was about to mature,” he told MailOnline.
“In the second image, his features are simply a little longer, which can happen with age.”
Dr. Mercer also explains that a blepharoplasty would not be appropriate for a woman in her thirties and, if performed, the effects would likely be minimal due to the natural shape of her eye.
Facial plastic surgeon @drspiegel told his 37,000 followers on TikTok that Taylor now has more visible eyelids due to the surgery.
He added: “A 34-year-old person would have very little excess skin to play with and to move that fold upwards you need a lot of it.”
“You’d probably only get about two millimeters of extra spectacle.”
Professor Ullas Raghavan, a facial cosmetic surgeon at private clinic Pall Mall Medical, said the Love Story singer’s features have become “more refined” over the years.
He highlighted that facial maturity often brings with it natural changes, including sharper contours and less baby fat.
“As someone ages, their bone structure may appear more defined, especially under the cheekbones and jawline,” he said.
“It’s a natural evolution for someone like Taylor, whose features were already well proportioned,” he added.
However, rRhinoplasty, also known as a nose job, rumors have circulated for years.
“If any work has been done to it, it has been incredibly subtle,” Professor Raghavan said.
“Her nose looks a little more refined now, which could be the result of a surgical or liquid rhinoplasty or simply the effect of aging and makeup techniques.”
Other speculations include dermal fillers or Botox to keep your skin smooth and youthful.
Professor Raghavan added that these treatments are becoming more common among celebrities.
“There is the possibility of using subtle filler in areas such as the chin, cheeks or lips, which can improve fullness without appearing overdone,” she said.
You may also have had buccal fat removed. But again, these are just possibilities based on observation.’
