Can the Big Ten overtake the SEC? And UCLA to pay Cal for Pac-12 departure

In today’s episode, SI’s Dan Wetzel, Ross Dellenger and Pad Forde react to outgoing Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith’s parting shots toward Michigan. Smith’s comments about whether there should be an asterisk next to the Buckeyes’ losses to Michigan over the past few seasons are disputed.

Wetzel raises the question of whether the Big Ten will soon be able to overtake the SEC in college football dominance after Michigan has created a plan for success.

After the break, they react to the news that UCLA will likely need to pay $10 million over the next six years to Cal due to its departure from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten. Dellenger notes that this newly added expense limits UCLA’s return on leaving the Pac-12.

Then they talk about top 2025 recruit Julian Lewis taking a recruiting visit to the unlikely destination of Indiana. Forde projects how the Hoosiers could be in the market for bigger recruits.

They end the show with the story of a woman who is suing Cold Stone Creamery for falsely claiming that their pistachio ice cream contains real pistachios.
