Dramatic body camera footage captured the moment police chased and arrested an armed suspect after an alleged early morning home invasion.

Footage, released by Western Australian Police, showed officers responding to the incident in Camillo, southeast of Perth, at about 3.30am on Saturday.

The police car drove through the dark streets with its siren blaring as officers chased suspects in an alleged home invasion.

The video then shows an officer checking an empty car on a street and saying, “The suspect abandoned the vehicle.”

The officer then ran and jumped a fence into the backyard of a home, where he climbed into some dense bushes.

In the yard, he was confronted by a man wearing dark clothing and a balaclava and holding what appeared to be a gun.

“Drop the gun now or I’ll Taser you,” the police officer can be heard yelling at the man.

After a second officer arrived, the two pinned the suspect to the ground and one of them yelled, “Don’t move or I’ll shock you. Put your hands behind your back.”

Police allege two men, one armed with a knife and the other with a firearm, broke into a home on Natasha Way and threatened the three occupants before stealing items.

“The offenders stole a Ford Falcon sedan and left the area,” police said in a statement Saturday afternoon.

‘It will also be alleged that police spotted the stolen vehicle at around 3.50am in Thornlie and did not stop.

‘Police followed the vehicle and a short time later it stopped on Greenway Avenue in Thornlie. The male occupant of the vehicle fled on foot before being detained and taken into custody.

“The firearm believed to have been used during this incident was located on Clancy Way in Thornlie and has been seized by police.”
