Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen admits he ‘laughed’ during Jurgen Klopp’s viral post-match interview after Sunday’s FA Cup thriller.

The Liverpool manager stormed out of a post-match interview with Scandinavian television following their dramatic quarter-final defeat at Old Trafford.

Liverpool were beaten 4-3 after extra time as Amad Diallo scored a 121st minute winner to secure an impressive comeback win for United, with Klopp’s side leading 2-1 and 3-2 at some moments of the match.

And, after the match – which ended Liverpool’s quadruple hopes in Klopp’s final season – the German took offense to a question from a journalist from Scandinavian outlet V Sport and left.

After being asked about his team’s drop in intensity during extra time, Klopp fumed: “That’s a bit of a stupid question.

“If you see us often, you can ask us other times why we have so much energy.

Frederikse has since denied suggestions Klopp was referring to his weight and played down the incident before Denmark international Eriksen was asked about the clip.

“I kind of laughed about it,” he told Tipsbladet.

“I met Per Frimann, his colleague, on the plane returning home. I know Rasmus Højlund spent the whole flight home with Niels Christian, so I think they had some good conversations.

“It’s journalism, and what they’re asking for isn’t something you have anything to do with, but Klopp was visibly tired and bored after their defeat.”

“I don’t know how many games we’ve played recently or how many games Manchester United have played. That’s what sport is.

“I’m really disappointed in that question, but you thought it was obviously a good thing.”

The journalist then added: “So, too many games?

This led a furious Klopp to respond: “Oh, you don’t think that. Come on!

“You are obviously not in great shape and I have no nerves for you,” as the German walked past the journalist and left the interview.

The Reds looked set to claim victory at Old Trafford, with goals from Mohamed Salah and Alexis Mac Allister looking enough before Antony’s equalizer late in normal time.

Harvey Elliott’s deflected effort gave them the lead in extra time, before Marcus Rashford and then Amad Diallo secured United’s most dramatic victory.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Klopp lamented his team’s wastefulness despite being ahead in the game.

“We didn’t finish the game,” he said. “When you leave the door open, away from home at Old Trafford, it’s clear they will have chances.

“It was really hard for us. It was the first time I saw my team really… phew… really struggling.

“When you win, it’s a great position to watch a game. When you lose, it’s the worst feeling.

Asked about his team’s potential fatigue ahead of the international break, Klopp added: “I hope the (international managers) want them in the best shape for the summer.

“So I hope they don’t have to play two lots of 90 minutes. But it’s not in my hands.

The Reds return to action on March 31 when they travel to Brighton, with Klopp’s side currently second in the Premier League behind Arsenal on goal difference.
