Cameron Diaz has insisted she’s “over rom-coms” as she teased a possible film role during an appearance on Capital Radio on Tuesday.
The 52-year-old Hollywood actress, known for her starring role in The Holiday alongside Jude Law, has made a surprising return to her career in an action comedy with Jamie Foxx after a 10-year hiatus from acting.
While she is famous for her numerous roles in romantic comedies, Cameron said the days of romantic comedies are over and she now wants to focus on ‘mom comedies.’
The mother-of-two, who shares daughter Raddix, four, and son Cardinal, 10 months, with rocker husband Benji Madden, 45, now wants to focus on films that fit around her life and motherhood current.
Radio presenter Sian Welby said: “I mean, look guys, they’re back with an absolute bang.” This is full of action, you have, like you have a flamethrower at one point, almost at the gas station as we call it.
‘But Cameron, have I heard that it’s true that now in the future there will be no more romantic comedies, only family comedies?’

However, her close friend Jamie has lured her to star alongside him in the couple’s latest action comedy.
Appearing on The Graham Norton Show last week, Cameron gushed: “I’m back thanks to Jamie” and admitted she would have been a “fool” not to return to the industry.
The star explained: ‘I had 10 years not paying attention to anything; I didn’t accept any advances, and then I got this script and I thought maybe it was time.
“If I was going to leave my family 10 hours a day, I wanted to do it with the most talented man in the entertainment business.”
Expressing gratitude for still working in the industry, he added: “It’s a privilege to make films and we’re all very lucky to do what we do.” That the door was open to me after a decade was surprising.
“I loved those 10 years for myself and my family, but I thought, ‘If I let this go, if I don’t get back involved, and if I don’t give it a chance, I’m a fool.'” It may be the start of something, but now It’s here and I’m grateful for it.’

Cameron and Jamie star in Back In Action, which launched on Netflix on January 17.
The film follows Emily (Cameron) and Matt (Jamie), two former CIA agents who have abandoned their lives of espionage and action to settle down, start a family, and live a normal life.
However, things don’t go so well for them as their identities are compromised and they are forced to fight and flee to protect those closest to them.
The trailer begins with Emily and Matt driving to a restaurant with their children, however, they make a quick stop at a gas station. As Jamie gets out of his car, a group of strangers surround him and his wife Emily and start attacking them out of nowhere.
While they are able to defend themselves, their secret identities are revealed to their children and now they must discover what threat exists to their family.
