Frank Lampard has told Callum Hudson-Odoi to match Willian and Christian Pulisic’s form to start for Chelsea, while also confirming N’Golo Kante’s injury.

Influential midfielder Kante has been sidelined for the Champions League chasing club’s games against Crystal Palace and Sheffield United due to a hamstring problem.

Speaking to Palace on Tuesday, Lampard also warned Hudson-Odoi that he won’t start for Chelsea until he proves he’s worthy of the spot.

“He has to work hard every day in training and if he gets his chances, he really shows input in games,” Lampard said of the 19-year-old.

“We see what Christian Pulisic and Willian are doing. Callum has to show something similar. They can make an impact in their own way. ‘

Hudson-Odoi has relied on replacement appearances since the restart.

Jorginho has also not started since the return of football. As to how he handled it unused, Lampard said, “He’s been professional. He wants to play – every player does.

“He always trains well. That is what I would expect. I don’t want to go into the reasons why I choose a team, it’s just my choices. ‘

Regarding the race for Champions League football, Lampard added: “The pressure is undoubtedly increasing. Game by game, results around you, it influences it. But I enjoy it.

“It’s something I was used to as a player. But that’s what we do it for. That’s what it’s all about. ‘
