Call the fashion police! Officers confiscate dog wearing smart blue collared shirt from owner who was too drunk to handle her pet

Passers-by were surprised when they spotted a smartly dressed dog sitting in a police van.
The dog, who was wearing a button-up blue denim shirt, had been confiscated by officers from its owner who they believe was too drunk to handle it.
A police photo of the dog in the vehicle caused a stir online, as social media pundits claimed the animal’s choice of dress was a ‘crime against fashion’.
It’s unclear why the pet owner would think the dog needed a shirt with the top button buttoned up, but alcohol may well have been a factor.
Others have suggested officers may even have disguised the dog for this unlikely photo.

Police posted the photo of the dapper dog in the stylish blue shirt on their Twitter.
The dog can be seen looking puzzled as he perches on the window of the police van, while his eyes go straight to the camera lens.
British Transport Police in the Midlands explained on Twitter: “Yesterday our officers received a text report of a woman who was intoxicated and not taking sufficient care of her dog.
“Officers attended the scene and ensured the welfare of the dog while further investigations are underway to establish possible offences.”
The incident comes shortly after Greater Manchester Police had to crash into a camper van to rescue a ‘locked inside’ Labrador.
Users were tickled by the smartly dressed dog, with one person questioning the officers, “Did you dress the dog just for the photo?”

Others complimented the dog saying he looked ‘dapper in his little outfit’, while one person said it was his ‘all-time favorite police photo’.
The dog is currently not in the care of its owner and has been placed under alternative care according to British Transport Police.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: ‘Officers were called to Wolverhampton Station following reports of a woman being intoxicated and concerns about the well-being of her husband. dog.
