Football professional Daniel Caligiuri will leave Bundesliga club FC Augsburg at the end of the season after three years. This was confirmed by FCA Managing Director Stefan Reuter after the 1-1 (1-0) draw against VfB Stuttgart on Friday evening.
The separation at the end of the contract was a “joint decision”, reported Reuter: “He is a very experienced, good player and feels good. He wants more playing time, he doesn’t get that with us.”
The 35-year-old played 79 competitive games for the Bavarian Swabians (twelve goals). “He scored important goals, is an absolutely good guy and a top professional, was always reliable,” said Reuter, “we’re on good terms with each other. He’ll give it his all until the last day.”
In the case of Julian Baumgartlinger (35), on the other hand, a contract extension seems possible. Also with Andre Hahn (32) one is “in talks”, said Reuter. Both working papers also end in the summer. However, a decision will only be made “when everything is clear” in the table.
