A California man is killed after being run over by his own van while trying to stop thieves from stealing it

- The father of one of them spoke to his father as he was getting ready for work when he saw that the van was taken
- He ran outside to “avoid losing his livelihood,” but fell and was run over by the vehicle
- The van was found just 1.5 miles away two hours later and three were arrested
- Omar Sanchez, 28, and Yesenia Escareno, 21, were arrested for alleged murder and carjacking
- Adriana Gomez, 29, was arrested for allegedly being an accomplice
A man in California was murdered on Tuesday after being run over by his own van while trying to prevent it from being stolen from his driveway.
Jose DeJesus Berrelleza, 33, died after running to stop the theft while getting ready for work at 6:20 am, but fell to the ground and was run over by the van.
He was talking to his father when he saw the van being taken from his house in the 100 block of South Melinda Circle.
Three suspects were found in the van later in the day about 1.5 miles from Berrelleza’s house and arrested, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Berrelleza was the father of someone who leaves behind an eight-year-old daughter
Omar Sanchez, 28, and Yesenia Escareno, 21, were arrested two hours later for alleged murder and carjacking.
Adriana Gomez, 29, was arrested for allegedly being an accomplice.
‘It is believed that Berrelleza, the father of an 8-year-old daughter, tried to stop the vehicle theft to keep him from losing his bread,’ Anaheim Police said.
Berrelleza died on the spot.
He leaves behind an eight-year-old daughter.

“On the early morning of Tuesday, September 22, 2020, Jesus was outside talking to his father as usual before they both left their work,” said a GoFundMe founded in his honor.
‘It was their quality time together when these people took it from us. He was only 33 years old. He was a strong and hardworking man who always looked after his family, especially his daughter. He had many plans for them.
The best memories she will cherish were their wild camping trips. Jesus was adventurous and taught his daughter to be adventurous and courageous, just like him, ”he adds.

Anaheim police say the suspects, all Anaheim residents, did not know the victim prior to the incident.
They weren’t sure who was behind the wheel when Berrelleza was hit.
