A recent video of California Governor Gavin Newsom being booed while visiting Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles is making the rounds on the Internet.
Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass held a press conference on October 30 at the Downtown Women’s Center to discuss funding for homeless people in Los Angeles communities.
After the event ended, Newsom took a walk through Skid Row, an area known for its overwhelming homeless encampments, where the Democrat was questioned and criticized mercilessly by a group called Los Angeles Community Action Network.
Do you see how dirty these streets are? These streets have not been clean, the city did not bring a single garbage can,” an interlocutor shouted at the governor off camera, according to the video.
The caller directly behind the camera criticized Newsom for ignoring a woman he had passed who was talking about how her children were taken away from her while she was trapped living in a tent.

The video shows Newsom responding to the hecklers: “The HHAP money, the prioritization is still a framework on housing, services, shelters, all sleeping housing and supportive services for the homeless,” Newsom said.
‘Temporary housing has a role, real estate housing is important. I’m not opposed to shelters, but those are decisions for your local government.’
The cameraman then said, ‘Yes, but what is considered housing?’
The group continued to insult Newsom, accusing him of not making any real changes for the homeless.
At one point, Newsom stops, turns to look at the heckler, waits for him to finish, raises his hand and says “take care of yourself man, it’s okay, it’s good spending time with you,” to which the man responded “do the correct”. !’

The Golden State’s budget deficit is at least $45 billion, a deficit so large that it led Newsom to propose painful spending cuts that affect immigrants, kindergartners and low-income parents seeking child care in a state often praised for having the fifth largest economy in the world.
California spent $24 billion to combat homelessness in five years, but did not track whether the money was helping the state’s growing number of homeless people.
The governor previously came under fire from a reporter after he continued to dodge questions about state spending.
