Eric Swalwell, the representative for California’s 14th congressional district, apparently received death threats from former 49ers guard Bruce Miller, according to a screenshot he shared on Twitter.
On Thursday afternoon, Swalwell received a threatening message from an account that appeared to belong to Miller, who played six seasons in the NFL.
‘Almost time! Would you rather Guantanamo or just execution,’ the account wrote. “Fuck traitor.”
The account has over 54,000 Twitter followers, including the NFL.
But Swalwell was apparently unfamiliar with the former 49er.
“Who is this guy threatening to execute me? And how come he has so many followers? Swalwell captioned the screenshot of the post.
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) reportedly informed Capitol Police of the incident afterward

Bruce Miller played with the 49ers from 2011 to 2015 and ended his career with the Jaguars
According NBC Bay AreaSwalwell informed Capitol Police of the threat and said “my family and staff are deeply troubled by the threat of execution…apparently by former 49er Bruce Miller.”
“Threats of political violence are unacceptable.”
If Miller finds himself arrested for his remarks, it wouldn’t be the first time he’s run into trouble with law enforcement.
He destroyed a woman’s mobile phone in 2015 and did not contest a crime disturbing the peace, and was arrested for assault and elder abuse the following year.
Miller, a seventh-round draft pick in 2011, played with the 49ers from 2011 to 2015, and returned for a stint with the Jaguars in 2020.
