Heartwarming reunion between Utah calico cat and her owners after she traveled nearly 700 miles to Los Angeles by sneaking into an Amazon package.

Calico Galena the cat disappeared from the home of couple Carrie and Matt Clark in suburban Salt Lake City on April 10.

The family searched their entire home, neighborhood, nearby walking path and surrounding areas with no sign of her.

A week after her disappearance, the Clarks were stunned to receive notification that Galena’s microchip had been scanned in Los Angeles.

‘She had jumped/hid in one of our Amazon return packages without us knowing. She was mailed to a return center in California and left trapped in a box and trailer for six days,” Carrie said on Facebook.

A tear in the package allowed him to breathe.

Carrie said the side seam of the Amazon package, which contained a box of CAT shoes, split so Galena could breathe during her travels.

‘Galena miraculously survived without food or water for six days. His blood work on her was completely normal! Despite being thinner, she is completely unharmed.’

Brandy Hunter’s co-workers at a local Amazon warehouse found Galena and called her to help with the rescue.

“We’ve had some crazy things during my time here, but NEVER anything like this,” Hunter said on Facebook.

“I finished driving home, picked up my tag, my cat carrier, a blanket, some cat food, and food and water dishes and drove to work to see if I could catch this beautiful baby.”

Hunter said Galena was very scared in the new environment, but was glad to get his help.

The next morning, he took the calico cat to the vet’s office, where they scanned his microchip and connected Hunter to the Clarks.

‘We called from the vet’s office and at first [Carrie] “I thought someone had taken his number from the missing cat poster and was pranking him because the story is so crazy,” Hunter said.

‘She didn’t believe her baby was still alive and had traveled to California until she spoke to me and I explained how and where I found her. Both she and her husband completely collapsed and so did I, in the middle of the vet’s appointment.

The Clarks immediately booked a ticket to Los Angeles and drove another hour and a half directly to the vet’s office from the airport.

Hunter recorded the touching reunion between Galena and her owners. Although frightened, Galena recognized the Clarks and welcomed the pets and hugged them.

Hunter said Galena was afraid in her new surroundings.

Galena entered the box without problems and prepared to receive Hunter's help.

Galena suffered mild dehydration and was not eating, but emerged from his trip without other injuries.

‘After getting approval from the vets and a game plan, Matt, Galena and I packed up the rental car and drove 10 hours together back to Utah. “We finally returned home on Friday after traveling 1,400 miles in 24 hours to get our kitten back,” Carrie said.

Carrie said the side seam of the Amazon package, which contained a box of CAT shoes, split open so Galena could breathe, and ideal weather temperatures helped her survive.

“I am so relieved that everything turned out well and I got my sweet pet back. Galena is a great emotional support to me and our family members,” Carrie told DailyMail.com.

‘It’s a miracle he’s safe after everything that happened. God knew he needed her a little more. Please microchip your pet and triple check those Amazon packages.
