But the decision by President Biden and Democrats to so publicly recognize and celebrate the day has inflamed some critics, and some facets of trans rights are among the thorniest cultural issues of the moment.
Biden was further accused of skewing priorities after the White House banned religious symbols from appearing on Easter eggs during its annual egg roll, even though this rule has been in place for decades.
Jenner, a staunch conservative who revealed she was trans in 2015, made her loyalties known in a powerful speech, taking aim at the president in particular.

“I am absolutely disgusted that Joe Biden declared the Most Holy of Holies Day – a self-proclaimed devout Catholic – as Transgender Day of Visibility,” she wrote in a post that has been viewed more than 4 million times.
“The only thing you should declare on this day is ‘HE is risen,'” the transitioning track star continued, ultimately sparking a stream of comments that focused on the validity of his claim.
Several noted that the holiday, intended to show solidarity toward the world’s transgender population, has been celebrated on the same day since 2009, with Easter falling on a different day each year.
One of those people said, “Well, since this has been going on for nine years and Easter changes every year, you’re a reactionary trying to get support through scams.”
Another viewer, apparently noting the irony of such an accusation coming from Jenner, shared a photo of the athlete in 2017, celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility with several friends.

Emily Metz, executive director of the American Egg Board, rejected claims about the so-called egg conspiracy, telling Fox News that the restrictions exist because America’s Egg Farmers is subject to “strict guidelines under the USDA.”

Responding to claims that he was trying to downplay Easter on Saturday, a White House representative told DailyMail.com: “As a Christian who celebrates Easter with family, President Biden advocates bringing people together and defend the dignity and freedoms of every American.
‘Sadly, it is no surprise that politicians seek to divide and weaken our country with cruel, hateful and dishonest rhetoric. President Biden will never abuse his faith for political purposes or profit.”
Meanwhile, landmarks across the country in cities like New York will continue to be lit in light pink, white and light blue in celebration, for the 15th time in as many years.
