Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark won the WNBA Rookie of the Year award from league officials a week after receiving the same honor from the Associated Press.
Clark missed out on being the league’s MVP, losing that honor to Las Vegas Aces giant A’ja Wilson.
Clark finished fourth in MVP voting, but also won the Associated Press rookie of the year award. Now, the Fever star can add to his trophy case, according to The Atlético.
Wilson was previously named WNBA MVP in 2020 and 2022, with Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart backed by Wilson’s wins.
Clark was not expected to win MVP, as Wilson set the WNBA scoring record this season.
Clark reportedly won the WNBA Rookie of the Year award, but missed out on MVP.
A’ja Wilson won her third WNBA MVP, having previously held the honor in 2020 and 2022.
Wilson’s Vegas Aces have not won an MVP award other than her, while Tamika Catchings won the Indiana Fever’s only MVP honor in 2011.
Wilson was the league’s second unanimous choice for the award, the first since Cynthia Cooper received all 37 first-place votes in the league’s inaugural season in 1997.
The WNBA officially named Wilson its MVP last Sunday, but has not confirmed Clark’s award.
Indiana made the postseason for the first time since 2016 with Clark as the focal point, but lost both playoff games to the Connecticut Sun.
The Las Vegas Aces remain the defending league champions after topping the Seattle Storm in the WNBA quarterfinals.
Wilson and the rest of his team will face the top-seeded New York Liberty in the semifinals.
