Caitlin Clark to play in pro-am event held at LPGA golf tournament

Indiana Fever freshman guard Caitlin Clark is trading the court for the Links this offseason.

Clark revealed on Monday that he will participate in the pro-am at The Annika hosted by Gainbridge.

The LPGA golf tournament held in November near Tampa, Florida, is named after ten-time major winner Annika Sorenstam.

Not only will she be carrying her clubs around the 18 holes, but she will also speak on the tournament’s Women’s Leadership Summit panel the day before.

“I love golf, so the opportunity to play in the pro-am of a tournament named after a legend like Annika Sorenstam is very exciting,” Clark said in a statement.

Clark previously participated in a pro-am at the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic in July 2023.

‘Gainbridge is a leader in supporting women’s sports, and that is clear through their commitment to me, this event, Billie Jean King and Parity Week.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the LPGA players on the practice range, being a part of the Women’s Leadership Summit and, of course, playing in the pro-am with Annika.”

This is just another connection between Clark and Gainbridge, the company that owns the naming rights to the stadium where the Fever play.

Clark previously competed in a pro-am event at the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic in 2023.

After a season-ending loss to the Connecticut Sun, Clark made it clear that he was looking forward to getting on the field more.

‘I don’t know what I’m going to do the next day; maybe play some golf. “That’s what I’m going to do: become a professional golfer.”

Clark has made no secret of her love for golf, long before she conquered the WNBA. Speaking to Golf Digest in 2023, he said: “That’s what I was most looking forward to with the end of basketball.

‘I still want to be active and do something, so I’m going to go to the golf course. You can clear your mind, do something you really like, and have the peace and quiet of being alone with your friends or even yourself. I love being able to escape reality for a while.’
