Caitlin Clark shared an emotional Iowa farewell post on her Instagram Story, shortly after the Hawkeyes lost the national championship game to South Carolina.

The likely No. 1 overall pick in next week’s WNBA Draft also admitted that “the emotions are going to hit me” after her final college game ended in defeat, finishing as national runner-up for the second straight season.

Clark’s Instagram story was a photo of the back of his yellow and black No. 22 jersey, which will surely not be worn by any other Hawkeye and will be quickly retired in Iowa City.

Clark scored 30 points in his final college game, 18 of them in the first quarter against the Gamecocks.

He also addressed the media after his final appearance under the NCAA banner.

Clark’s post on her Instagram Story came less than an hour after Sunday’s final whistle.

Clark will go down as one of the greatest college basketball players of all time at any level.

“I think the emotions are probably going to hit me for the next few days and I don’t have a lot of time to sit back and get angry and angry,” Clark said after the loss to South Carolina.

“I don’t think that’s what I do either,” Clark added. ‘Yes, I’m sad that we lost this game, but I’m also very proud of myself, I’m very proud of my teammates, I’m very proud of this program. “There is a lot to be proud of.”

But there will be tears. It’s sad that this is all over and it’s sad that it’s the last time I’ll put on an Iowa jersey,” Clark continued. “…Basically, no one but me and Coach (Lisa) Bluder ever thought this was possible “.

Before Clark’s arrival, Iowa women’s basketball had been to one Final Four and never appeared in a championship game.

Now, the Hawkeyes have been to the title showdown twice and are considered a national power.

With Clark likely joining the Indiana Fever, Bluder will have to make sure Iowa’s standing doesn’t slip.
