Caitlin Clark has led the surge in interest in women's basketball over the past year and more.

Following the Indiana Fever’s 89-77 loss to the Seattle Storm on Thursday night, their second in a row, the team’s two biggest stars were involved in an awkward exchange.

Caitlin Clark was brutally shut down by Aliyah Boston at the postgame press conference after she was asked the first few questions and no one acknowledged Boston.

That prompted the rookie sensation to say, ‘Ask Aliyah a question!’, to which Boston emphatically responded, ‘No, I’m fine!’

Clark reaffirmed that he wanted someone from the media to ask Boston a question, and that someone from the press gathered in Seattle would be willing to do so.

Both Boston and Clark were clearly frustrated with the result that keeps Fever out of the WNBA playoff picture as they combined to score 26 points against the Storm.

There have been no real signs of dissent between Clark and Boston before, as both are integral to any future success for Indiana.

Clark’s rookie season has been put under a huge microscope because she was at the forefront of the rise in popularity of women’s basketball, dating back to her career at Iowa.

Boston sported the exact same style that Clark sports now. She was a dominant player in college at South Carolina and was the first overall pick in last year’s WNBA draft for the Fever.

After being an afterthought in a league searching for relevance, those concerns disappeared with the addition of Clark.

However, as a team, the Fever have yet to reap the rewards commonly associated with Clark.

Things won’t get any easier for the Mercury going forward, as a first-ever matchup between Clark and Diana Taurasi looms on Sunday before finishing a trip against the Las Vegas Aces.
