Caitlin Clark is being attacked by WNBA players because she is “a straight white woman in a black lesbian league,” according to Outkick founder Clay Travis.
Travis was speaking to Fox’s Sean Hannity after Chennedy Carter brutally punched Clark during his Indiana Fever team’s loss to the Chicago Sky on Saturday. It was originally called as an off-ball foul before being upgraded to Flagrant 1 after the game.
Clark said in preparation that opposing players across the league were escaping punishment for being too physical with her. The incident sparked widespread debate over whether Clark, the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft, was being targeted because of her career, as well as the attention she is receiving in her rookie season.
“It’s not just race, it’s sexuality,” Travis told Hannity this week. “Caitlin Clark is a straight white woman in a black lesbian league and they are resentful and jealous of all the attention and shoe treatment she received.
“And instead of acknowledging the truth, which is that the great athletes that people care about when they come into your league actually make everyone more money.”

Hannity responded: ‘Why do you say lesbian league? I mean, I don’t know anything about the sexuality of any of the WNBA girls.
“70% lesbian,” Travis insisted. “And I think she (Clark) has a boyfriend, I think it’s a fiancé, who by the way said there needs to be an enforcer, it creates two different identity politics universes that she doesn’t fit into this league.
‘They don’t like her because she’s white and they don’t like her because she’s straight. And as a result, the league is crumbling around him even though he is attracting new fans.”
While there is no way to know the sexual orientation of every WNBA player in 2024, an April 2022 study by the University of California He said that 38% of the players were lesbians.

Clark’s salary in his rookie season with the Fever is actually quite modest: He’ll earn around $76,535 from his contract in Indiana, but it’s from off-court endorsements where he makes money, like the controversial shoe deal Travis gave him. He mentioned Hannity.
Clark reached an eight-year, $28 million deal with Nike, which came under intense scrutiny as the deal was struck before she had even played a game in the WNBA.
Jemele Hill was one of the critics, saying that A’ja Wilson, a two-time MVP, two-time champion and five-time All-Star, deserved one before Clark. Wilson landed her own deal with Nike shortly after Clark.
But Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy said Clark “is getting screwed” with the deal. He said on X: ‘If people want to complain about Caitlin Clark being screwed, complain about this. The 8 year deal for 28 million is STEAL. 8 years 80 million min is its value and it is probably still too cheap.

Clark returns to the court Friday night when the Fever (2-8) host the Washington Mystics.
