Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese will team up for the WNBA All-Star Game, and the Indiana Fever rookie has backed her rival to dominate in a key category.

Reese, another first-year player on the Chicago Sky, leads the league in rebounds per game and Clark hopes that trend continues when the WNBA Stars take on Team USA this weekend.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun, she’ll probably lead the game in rebounding,” Clark said. She said on the WNBA orange carpet on Thursday. “I expect that from her. That’s what she does.”

Reese is grabbing 12 rebounds per game to go along with 13.5 points and has set a league record with a streak of 15 consecutive double-doubles.

Meanwhile, Clark has already set the Fever’s single-season assist record, and has seamlessly transitioned to victory to the tune of 17.1 points and 8.2 assists per game.

Clark and Reese, who wrestled in college at Iowa and LSU respectively, became the first pair of WNBA rookies to become All-Stars since 2015.

“I think it’s great, obviously it’s rare to have two rookies in the All-Star Game… obviously the fans are super excited about that,” Clark said. “I think it’s really good for W, and she’s obviously having an amazing year.

Clark and Reese have been linked since their college days, and Reese sparked a national controversy and debate when he mocked Clark toward the end of the 2023 national championship game.

And in the pros, Reese cheered when teammate Chennedy Carter brutally beat Clark during a game.

She also repeatedly reminded reporters that there is more than one notable rookie playing in the WNBA this season, and claimed that Clark benefits from a “special whistle” from referees.

However, it appears Reese will enjoy playing with Clark this weekend, at least according to recently resurfaced comments from last year.

“Oh my gosh, I love Caitlin,” Reese told reporters in the fall of 2023, as she began her final season at LSU.

‘We’ve been competing since we were in AAU. Back in the AAU days, we were always competing. I remember she was on All Iowa Attack and we would play each other in AAU. It was always fun and always competitive.

“One day, hopefully, she and I can be teammates because she’s a great player, a great shooter, a great person and a great teammate,” Reese added.

The two players are also considered the favorites for the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award, and Shaquille O’Neal recently gave his take on his “definitive” favorite.

On Saturday, however, they will enjoy a rare moment on the same side.
