- One customer left 1 * google review because sandwich didn’t come with beans
- Another complained about food served in plastic containers due to Covid’s regulations
- Rebekah was also attacked by thieves who stole umbrellas and left without paying
A cafe owner trying to get back from the pandemic hit a customer who left a one-star Google review for not having his sandwich served with baked beans – despite the side not being on the menu.
Rebekah Jane, who runs Bankhouse Diner & Bar in Stafford, suffered a series of setbacks in just two weeks and went on a self-proclaimed ‘rant’ on Facebook.
Furious at receiving two one-star “ small ” Google reviews, she shared how her establishment was also targeted by criminals three times, with thieves running off with their umbrellas and other guests leaving without paying their bills.
One customer complained that he and his family had to stop at McDonald’s on the way home from their visit, which Rebekah later found out because their £ 6 breakfast sandwiches weren’t served with baked beans.

Rebekah later found that the one-star review was the result of their £ 6 breakfast sandwiches not being served with baked beans
He complained that the portion sizes were ‘terrible for the price’, adding: ‘Left disappointed and right on mky ds, wouldn’t eat here again [sic]. ‘
Commenting on the Google review, Rebekka wrote that her cafe “prides itself on a friendly atmosphere and fresh food,” and that “McDonald’s certainly isn’t.”
She later added, “Apparently he was annoyed by that [the breakfast sandwich] was not served with baked beans … it is not even served with beans!
“Again, I’m going back to the fact that we need customers to communicate with us and that people can stop the negative, unhelpful, and frankly totally unfair comments they want to post on Google.”
Another restaurant left a one-star rating for not appreciating that its food was served in a box – which, according to Rebekka, is part of the restaurant’s efforts to comply with strict Covid regulations.

Write on Staffordshire Tactical Information Group‘s Facebook page, enraged Rebekah – who opened the 1950s American restaurant last year – said,’ I can’t understand people sometimes … here’s a little rant of mine because I believe in speaking my mind and for our fellow merchants and businesses to take care of and “getaway thieves and idiots”.
Over the past two weeks, we’ve had two groups of people who intentionally didn’t pay for their meals and drinks and a set tried to rip off our card reader and not pay. We’ve got you both on CCTV and the card-cheating couple has been reported to the police.
We’ve also had two unhelpful reviews on Google. One man was upset he wasn’t getting beans (they weren’t even on the menu) and apparently they had to go to McDonald’s as they were still hungry.
The other was a review by a woman who said she didn’t like her food being served in a box (it’s a nice biodegradable box). For the love of God!
‘We try to comply with the Covid regulations. They both left one star reviews based on those facts. Speak to us! Small problems like this can always be fixed.

‘And last night, a little guy stole our umbrellas. If you saw a young white man carrying umbrellas across town on May 3rd around midnight – they’re ours!
“None of the people who did these things will care, but please know that people like YOU harm small businesses like ours.
‘We have been through 12 months in which we could not trade well and earn. We’ve spent a significant amount of time and money, plus planning, refurbishing, and damn hard work to make our restaurant and bar a welcoming and great place.
Please think about what you are doing for your own gain. We have CCTV throughout our building and nobody can get away with theft. Hospitality is hard work and small businesses try their best – your theft and disrespect is not required. ‘
Concluding her post, Rebekah added, “On a positive note, we have been blown away by loads of great feedback and reviews – for those of you who have been kind, supportive and respectful – we love you all.”
