CEO and founder of Allen Media Group Byron Allen will attend the Code Conference this month, where he will discuss the state of the media industry with CNBC’s senior media and technology correspondent. Julia Borstin.
Allen’s growing media company includes local broadcasters across the United States, cable networks such as Cars.TV and Comedy.TV, and film distribution group Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures. In 2018, the company acquired The Weather Channel for $300 million and last year launched a Weather Channel streaming service.
The group continues to look for opportunities to grow. Allen considered buying BET earlier this year and just last week made a $10 billion bid to acquire ABC, FX, National Geographic and other Disney assets.
All of this means that Allen, the media executive and former comedian, will have a lot to discuss on Code.
Allen joins a host of other technology and business leaders who will be on stage at Code, including the CEO of X. Linda YaccarinoGM CEO Maria Barraand CEO of Warner Music Group Robert Kyncl.
The Code Conference will take place on September 26 and 27 at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel in California. This year’s conference will be hosted by The edge chief editor nilay patel, Platforms founder Casey Newtonand CNBC Senior Technology and Media Correspondent Julia Borstin. There will also be special guest speakers, including the co-founder of Code Conference Kara Swisher.
