Barcelona star Gerard Pique has sparked a number of transfer rumors after he was spotted in London with a Chelsea merchandise bag.

The 35-year-old defender was in the English capital to watch the annual Wimbledon competition when onlookers noticed he was holding a number of bags branded by the Blues.

With Barcelona boss Xavi Pique already telling him he will be redundant at the Nou Camp, the Spaniard’s decision to show off his Chelsea clothes has caused fans to talk about a possible move.

According to Spanish publication Marca, the legendary centre-back visited the Chelsea megastore to buy his children’s home shirts – which they would later see wearing.

A move to Stamford Bridge could not be ruled out as Thomas Tuchel’s side are looking for defensive reinforcements following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

The Spain international was told two weeks ago that he had no future at Barcelona due to his unprofessional behavior off the pitch and his deteriorating physical condition.

Xavi told Pique – who is one of the top earners at Barcelona – that he was no longer part of his plans and that he could leave the Nou Camp this summer, despite being under contract until 2024.

Xavi reportedly spoke directly with his former team-mate and made it clear that Pique will not be included in his plans going forward.

While he doesn’t question Pique’s ability to perform at the highest level, Xavi thinks he is concerned about the veteran defender’s ability to handle the hectic schedule of modern football.

The club are hoping that Pique will make a dignified exit this summer, even relinquishing some of the £34.3million they owe him, much like the legendary figure Carles Puyol did when he left in 2014.
