A child is among a dozen passengers injured when two buses collided in a horror crash that trapped a bus driver inside.

The terrifying incident happened at 4.20pm on Wednesday on Seventh Avenue in Campsie, in Sydney’s southwest, with emergency crews rushing to the scene.

One of the buses crashed into parked cars before colliding with the other bus.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene (pictured) following reports buses collided in a horror smash in Campsie on Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters were forced to smash the front windshield of a bus in order to rescue the two men.

The two women, aged 70 and 50, suffered serious head injuries and were taken to hospital.

Paramedics took 13 passengers, including a child, to several Sydney hospitals and treated at least 24 other people at the scene.

New South Wales Police said in a statement that paramedics were still treating passengers while awaiting transport to hospital.

Video footage showed a bus with a shattered windshield.

Firefighters and rescue crews were seen removing parts of the damaged windshield to evacuate passengers.

Motorists have been asked to avoid the area while emergency crews work to clear the road.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted the NSW Ambulance Service for comment.
