Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is charged with misconduct by the FA after being sent off during 2-2 draw with Chelsea for protesting their penalty… before blasting referees as ‘not good enough’

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has been accused of misconduct by the Football Association following his team’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Tempers flared after referee Darren England awarded the Blues a penalty in the 40th minute for Lorenz Assignon’s foul on Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Burnley defender also saw a second yellow card, forcing the Clarets to play the second half with 10 men.

Kompany was sent off for protesting on the touchline and later expressed his opinion that the referees had not been good enough all season.

“I will continue to say what I think,” Kompany said.

Kompany was sent off during Burnley’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea on Saturday.

“I don’t shy away from it and I have said it to the referees themselves, the referees, the refereeing has not been good enough this season.

And I have said it, I think, in a constructive way, also understanding the fact that it is not easy for them. The scrutiny is massive, the pressure on officials is greater than ever.

“I think that the incorporation of the VAR, more opinions and more officials does not make it easier for them to do their job.

Vincent Kompany then criticized the level of refereeing in the Premier League this season.

‘I have no problem with being fined. I just want everything to be okay.’

The FA announced on Wednesday that the Burnley manager has been accused of inappropriate conduct.

A statement read: “It is alleged that the coach’s language and/or behavior around the 40th minute was inappropriate and/or abusive and/or insulting towards a match referee and/or questioned his integrity.”

Kompany has until 6:00 pm on Friday, April 5 to respond to the charge.
