The Texas Rangers announcers didn’t stop referee Angel Hernandez as he made one missed call after another Friday night.

The defending World Series champions built a quick 8-1 lead over their rivals, the Houston Astros, in the top of the fourth. With the lead, Texas loaded the bases for rookie Wyatt Langford.

However, Hernandez then called a 2-0 cutter a strike, despite being outside the zone. Shortly after, Astros pitcher JP France threw almost the same pitch twice, prompting the announcers to make comments during the broadcast.

‘That’s so obvious. That was terrible.’

The Rangers-Astros game wasn’t Hernandez’s first terrible assignment at the start of the MLB season.

The referee carried out a controversial strike on Gleyber Torres in the Yankees-Blue Jays confrontation on Sunday. Although New York still secured the 8-3 victory, the decision did not sit well with the fan base.

Hernandez also made a questionable decision in a game between the Mets and Tigers when he claimed that Detroit’s Spencer Torkelson swung the bat when it appeared otherwise.

However, his questionable decisions didn’t affect the Rangers, who cruised to a 12-8 victory over Houston.

The victory improved the Rangers to an 8-6 record. Meanwhile, the Astros fell to a 4-11 start.
