Police are investigating the death of a baby after he died suddenly in hospital.

The four-month-old baby died in Bundaberg West on Saturday after paramedics rushed him to Bundaberg Hospital on February 26.

The baby was then flown to Queensland Children’s Hospital in the early hours of the next day.

The baby died four days later.

Queensland Police officers will examine the circumstances that led to the baby’s death.

Specialist officers, including detectives from the Bundaberg Child Protection and Investigation Unit, have already launched an investigation.

Members of the Trauma and Children Unit of the Intelligence and Crime Command also participate.

Police will provide more information about their investigation later today.

Anyone with information about the baby’s death has been urged to come forward.
