James Middleton shared a sweet selfie of his family as he joked about being woken up at 4am in a rare comment on fatherhood.

The 36-year-old brother of the Princess of Wales, 42, became a father last year, after he and his wife Alizée welcomed their son Inigo in October.

Father-of-one James took to Instagram to share the photo and comment on it on his stories.

The photo shared by the new father showed a dog resting its face on its paws. He was accompanied by the caption: “My face when the 6 month old woke me up at 4 in the morning.”

Followers of the couple, who married in the Côte d’Azur village of Bormes-les-Mimosas in September 2021 and also share five dogs, commented on the post, according to tatler.

Someone wrote: ‘This is just the beginning of many sleepless nights and early mornings. Once you’re a parent, you can’t really sleep soundly.’

Another added: ‘Only a few hours until nap time! Enjoy your little one, some coffee and the sweet dogs!’

It comes as James’ sister Kate Middleton is currently battling cancer. Kate announced that she will undergo preventative chemotherapy treatment following successful abdominal surgery in January.

James took to Instagram to share a childhood photo with the princess on a hiking trip, saying: ‘Over the years, we’ve climbed many mountains together. As a family, we’ll climb it with you too.’

In response to the post, royal fans noted how James’ family had previously helped him in the past during his battle with mental health.

‘This is so sweet. She was there for you during your mental health struggles and I’m sure you will be by her side through this too,” one wrote. ‘They are both very strong and have the support of many people around the world. We love you!’

‘Oh what a beautiful post…she has such a supportive family! I have no doubt that our beloved princess will go through this and soon she will be cancer free,” another royal fan added.

“What a beautiful post,” said a third. ‘Catherine is very lucky to have such an amazing family who supports her. Sending lots of love to the whole family.”

James previously spoke about how Kate, along with his parents and sister Pippa, came together to help him overcome clinical depression.

“I was very lucky that they were willing to participate and understand that it is a process and there is no quick fix,” he said.

“And understanding the way my mind works, which may differ from theirs or other people’s, is a really important part, because it was a process for both me and them, and I think as a family we grew.” From that.’

Now it’s Kate’s turn to enlist the support of the Middleton family, and her parents Carole, 69, and Michael, 74, appear to have been eagerly available.

The couple, along with Kate’s siblings Pippa Matthews and James, have been supporting the royals’ recovery at their home in Windsor, which is close to their own homes.
