In South Africa, a police tactical firearms team shot dead nine brutal gang members suspected of raping a young girl in front of her screaming mother.
Justice was served quickly when the elite unit was ordered by higher-ups to track down the eleven men who had subjected their victim to such a sickening ordeal.
The ruthless gang based near Durban, KwaZulu-Natal province, is believed to be behind a series of serious crimes, including murders and armed robberies.
But when shocking information came to light from the mother of the girl who was sexually tortured and repeatedly raped during a burglary, authorities ordered a crackdown on the criminal group.
Officers from the KZN Provincial Crack Stabilization Team were mobilized when information emerged that the feared gang was planning to go after a rival boss.

The unit was dropped off near a house identified as the gang’s HQ in Desai, Mariannhill, but by mistake, in the darkness, had circled the wrong address.
A lookout alerted the gang members inside who opened fire on the police unit, but the officers quickly regrouped and began returning fire.
Within minutes, nine members of the gang lay dead.
Police are searching for the two remaining known members who escaped or were not present, relaying the news to the rape victim and her mother.
KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said: “The provincial stabilization team swooped on the gang early on Wednesday morning.
“The suspects were on our radar for serious and violent crimes, but then allegedly raped a young girl and forced her mother to watch during a burglary.
“The shooting happened when we received information that the gang was planning a hit on a rival, so a plan of action was quickly put in place.
“Nine gang members were shot dead and three firearms were found in their possession and a manhunt for two suspects is underway,” he said.
Within minutes, nine gang members lay dead and their family members were forced to identify their bodies.
Police are searching for the two remaining known members who fled or were not present, relaying the news to the rape victim and her mother.
Colonel Netshiunda confirmed the wrong house had been approached, but said: “Our team responded tactically and neutralized the threat without harming us.”
The unit was also in action in Durban last week when it was sent to an address where a gang wanted for a series of murders was allegedly holed up and surrounded it.
The gang opened fire and police returned fire, killing all four suspects inside.

A South African Police detective based in Durban said: “This group had been lobbying and lobbying for some time and this horrific gang rape was just the straw that broke the camel’s back.
“This happened just before information came in about where the gang might be, so the green light was given to arrest them, but they made a mistake by opening fire first.
“The response was instantaneous and when the shooting stopped, 9 of the people inside were dead,” he said.
