Answer fan questions United’s official website, Fernandes said, “She [Fred and Telles] always talk about who is the best player in the world, in history, blah blah….
‘We always fight because they say Pele was the best in football history and I have it and of course I put Cristiano in the middle.
‘For me, Cristiano and [Lionel] Messi, I always say, both have been writing history for years and were able to be at the top for years.
Fernandes is only too happy to work for his Portuguese teammate Cristiano Ronaldo
Fred and Telles remain steadfast in their argument, despite never seeing Pele play live

And of course, like me, they’ve never seen Pele play, so they can’t say he was the best because they’ve never seen him.
‘They say it because they are Brazilian and in Brazil they say it.
‘I think Pele is one of the best in the world because I hear people talking about him and I’ve seen some history and some videos and you watch and everyone can see [Diego] Maradona, Eusebio and folks talk about Pele as the best of all time.
‘We always talk about Rivaldo and Figo and which one was the best. Who was the worst and who was the best.
Another ongoing debate is whether Rivaldo (left) was a better player than Luis Figo (right)
So for me as a Portuguese I always defend my players. It doesn’t matter whether I like them or not, I defend the Portuguese players every time.
“So this is a fight between Brazilian and Portuguese people, but it’s more of a joke than anything else.”
