Bruins Opening Night Lineup Projection 1.0: The blue line is in great shape Originally appeared in NBC Sports Boston
The Boston Bruins have built a tall, big and strong roster heading into the 2024-25 NHL season, and nowhere is that more evident than on the blue line.
Here are the listed heights and weights for the seven defensemen projected to be in the mix for a spot on the Opening Night roster:
Charlie McAvoy: 1.85 m, 209 pounds
Nikita Zadorov: 6 feet 6 inches, 248 pounds
Brandon Carlo: 1.96 m, 98 kg
Hampus Lindholm: 1.93 m, 102 kg
Mason Lohrei: 1.96 m, 95 kg
Andrew Peeke: 1.90 m, 97 kg
Parker Wotherspoon: 1.85 m, 88 kg
“I think anytime you can have a defense that’s big but can also skate, I think that’s our biggest strength. We have guys that can really move in there,” Hampus Lindholm said. He told reporters on Tuesday.
“I think if you want to be good in this league as a defender, you have to be mobile and good on skates. Fortunately, we have a lot of strength in our defensive corps right now.”
The Bruins’ impressive combination of size, strength and skating ability on the backcourt should make them a tougher team to face, particularly in the playoffs. Zadorov’s free agency signing He brought a lot of toughness to the group. He’s not afraid to show his toughness, whether it’s delivering a hard hit, blocking a shot or clearing traffic from in front of the net.
This is our first projection for the Bruins’ opening night lineup, with the caveat that a lot could change between now and the Oct. 8 opener against the Florida Panthers.
