Production on Bruce Springsteen The biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere began this week in the Garden State.
And just four days into filming, Boss himself made a surprise appearance on the Rockaway, New Jersey set, where he was greeted by writer-director Scott Cooper.
The film is based on the book Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making Of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska (1982), written by Warren Zanes, who joined Cooper to welcome the legendary rocker to the set.
Springsteen, 75, looked like a much younger man his age in beige jeans with a matching jacket and brown chukka boots.
Stepping up the cool factor, the New Jersey icon sported cool dark sunglasses, while her gray hair was cropped short.

Writer-director Scott Cooper (center) was also there to help welcome the Chief to the set of the biopic, starring The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White as a Nebraska-era Springsteen.
It wasn’t long before Springsteen found himself surrounded by several people, including British actor Stephen Graham, who plays Douglas Springsteen, Bruce’s father with whom he had a complicated relationship.
It seemed like Cooper was filming a scene from Springsteen’s childhood, considering the classic American cars parked on the streets dating back to the 1950s, when the singer-songwriter was just a child.
The film also stars Johnny Cannizzaro as Steven Van Zandt, a member of the E Street Band, while Jeremy Strong plays Jon Landau, Springsteen’s manager and record producer.
The cast also features Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young and Harrison Gilbertson, among many others.
The film will follow Springsteen on his journey to make his sixth studio album, Nebraska, which departed from his previous work by being mostly stripped down.
He had recorded the songs solo as demos on a small four-track recorder with the intention of re-recording them with the E Street Band in the studio, but ultimately discarded the full band recordings and decided to release the solo demos as-is. . .
Their previous five studio albums had been an exercise in radiating energy, youth, optimism and joy while telling stories of the common man, for the most part.
But with Nebraska, the songs sounded more solemn and reflective, and are about ordinary blue-collar characters down on their luck facing challenges or turning points in their lives.
Nebraska was commercially successful, reaching number three in both the US and the UK, but its marked departure from previous albums resulted in slower sales and less critical praise initially.
Springsteen decided not to tour to promote the album, making it his first major release not to be supported by a major tour.
It would be decades before Nebraska attracted widespread acclaim, but over the years it has become one of the most respected albums of Springsteen’s career, which spans 21 solo and full band albums.
At the time of Nebraska’s recording, it was only a couple of years before he brought in the E Street Band for what would become the Born In The USA (1984) phenomenon.
Springsteen’s stop by the set came just days after production began in New Jersey.
